This community service program addressed differences in Qur’an reading skills and task-specific self-efficacy during Ramadan recitation at SMAN 8 Mataram. The program used participatory mentoring with descriptive pre–post evaluation. Seventy-two grade X students were divided into six heterogeneous groups of 12, each assisted by one student mentor from Program Lapangan Persekolahan (PLP; School Field Experience Program). Eight meetings lasted 35–45 minutes. Data were collected using a reading rubric covering fluency, articulation points, tajwid, and tartil; a participation checklist; a self-efficacy scale; a response questionnaire; teacher interviews; and documentation. The mean reading score increased from 2.27 to 3.05, and 56 students (77.8%) improved by at least 0.50 points. Regular attendance reached 93.1%, self-efficacy increased from 2.29 to 3.21, and positive responses averaged 90.0%. The program supported initial improvements in reading, participation, and self-efficacy, but did not establish a permanent Qur’anic literacy culture because it was short-term and had no comparison group
